Board's Ad-free status

To maintain our ad-free status, we have to pay a fee to Yuku. Our ad-free status ends in about 9 days. I opened the board for contributions and SgtAmi has graciously paid for 6 more months of ad-free usage of our wonderful resource, the Afterschoolers board!

We have a marketing problem. Our site doesn't show up when I google Afterschooling. It shows up when Googling afterschoolers, but nobody Googles that. They search on Afterschooling. In fact my new blog is already on the 2nd page, but we're not.

Isn't there a place to add description and keywords in the header? Are we already doing that?

I consider myself mostly an afterschooler but there are some things I come across that are truly homeschool topics and don't fall under the teaching topics because they are more about homeschool regulations or logistics. Since several of us are both homeschoolers and afterschoolers shall we add a section to accomodate? It probably wouldn't get a whole lot of traffic but there are a few musing about homeschool topics we could move there as well as new topics.

Wow. Someone tipped me off to the actual name of what we are doing.
We are neither homeschoolers or "schoolers". We really do BOTH public school AND homeschool our child on our own. I'm told this is called afterschooling.

Anyway...so glad to finally have found some others out here like me...

There are two ways to reply to a topic. You can type something quick in the box at the bottom of the page, or you can press "Add Reply" button and go to another page.

Please use Quick Reply only for a one liner or so. There is a known Yuku bug that, upon editing, will lose any formatting (blank lines, paragraphs, etc) that you had inserted into your Quick Reply.

It is safe to type one or two sentences in for a quick Quick Reply, but anything more meaty should be...

Katfam reported that the board is not usable for her since the move to YUKU b/c the pages take forever to loads. She clicks on something, leaves and comes back some time later to see if it's loaded. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I keep losing posts

I figured out what I am doing wrong. I make a quick reply. then when I am done posting I accidently click on the Add Reply button instead of the Quick Reply button. The Add Reply button is just above the text window for the quick reply. Then it brings up the Reply page and dumps my quick reply in the process.

But I bet we don't have control over things like where the buttons show up, do we?

What changes would you like to see at the board?

Although I haven't looked at numbers, I get the feeling the board is moving rather slowly of late. Do you agree? If so, why do you think this is so? What can we do to change this? What changes would you like to see made now that we've migrated to YUKU?

Well, we've been seeing this format for a week now. There's a few things that drive me crazy. I've changed the date to EST time, got rid of the ezHot Topic indicator that seems to show nothing, placed the names of anyone in Chat on the front page, and removed all the white space in the top rectangle. Are these okay? Is there anything else that is driving you crazy? Are you happy with the Avatars? Have you tried search?

The time has come.
