I am organizing and cleaning. I have moved all my educational things to my bedroom. I have finished with the math and science things. I found this was not bad as most of my math were consumable. Now I am on to the other subjects....and I have work books and things I did not use with my oldest two, I don't really like them...but they might work for my younger two as my youngest learns the most different from all my other children.

Even the material that I don't really...

H1N1 vaccines--anyone else's school offering them?

Our state is offering the schools the vaccines. Our elementary school accepted, although at least one neighboring school declined. I haven't heard anything from the middle school.

I had to submit the paperwork today for the elementary school. They are hoping to give the shots next week, with the second round for kids under 9 in early December.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what they recommend for kids who turn 10 after receiving one shot but before getting the...

My friend is a nurse and just had her first 11yr old female patient die of Swine flu. She had no prior conditions...perfectly healthy a week ago...... She still has several patients that are still intubated.

Huge realization last night

I have TWENTY more years of dealing with educating my children, that is until the last one is presumably out of college.

Wow.

As I'm getting all antsy and negative about another school year coming up, the lesson here is that I have to pace myself.

Just musing while taking a break from trimming the edge.......

My boys are taking private swimming lessons. I gave up on our town swimming camps with 20-25 kids per 3 instructors. THe kids spent more time hanging on the wall than with an instructor. I also didn't see a lot of tailoring the instruction to the kid.

With the private lessons, she is teaching my 6yr old and 9 yr old, whom are at different levels. She rotates between the two. SHe gets the 9yr old going,...

Ann - sometimes talking to parents can surprise you. There is a women in my neighborhood who in the past always talked wonderful things about the school and the teachers. She was what I would call part of the Muffia (from a book, I don't know How She Does It). The Muffia is the group of women who volunteer all the time, they are on the short list and always seem to know everything that is going on at the school because they are there. Muffia comes from making things for the bake sale....

Ok - ds was playing and loving it....however he got to the warehouse and got stuck and then had to go to violin lesson - when he got back the map room shows it with a vine and now he can't get back in. HELP he wants to try again and I can't figure out how to get in.

CurlyQ- OT - I grew on Lexington, MA. If you can plan your trip around April 19th (basically the monday around that date) It is also the time of all the reenactments of the battle at Lexington Green happen. When do we stop afterschooling? Or if you are homeschooling when are the goverment schools ok?

I am finding as the kids get older, my role in afterschooling is getting less and is changing. For my oldest it has become more about learning how to study and to write. for my 2nd grader is it math, science and social issues (girl things). For my kindergarterns it is the basic reading and writing.

We just got a flip video and love it. The kids had a great time making movies last night. It is so easy to use even my 5 year olds got to be behind the camera. We are going to bring it with us this weekend. I love it because it is small and it basically only has an on and off button and a zoom feature. lol. Once you load the video onto the computer then you can do a few things with it to make a movie even add music to it. (the help feature for this is on line and have not had a...
